Who is Aphrodite, The Goddess of Love?

One legend tells us that the Goddess of Love and Beauty, daughter of Zeus, rose from the sea foam just off the coast of Cyprus. This goddess has been known by many names over the course of history, but her energy has remained very much the same. Aphrodite’s energy is characterized by being strong, sensuous, innately female, confident, powerful, and fearless. The ultimate Divine Feminine energy personified.

When we think of Aphrodite we might picture a woman with flowing hair, perfect features and the ideal body, but her power is in more than just her outward appearance. Aphrodite draws her power from within; she is fearless in the pursuit of her desires, and is an absolute force to be reckoned with. This goddess gives love freely, but definitely knows her worth and does not let any mistreatment go unpunished!

Aphrodite: Goddess of Love and Beauty

In the legend of the Trojan War, Aphrodite wanted to be on top, to be recognized as the most beautiful of all goddesses. While it may seem trivial to host a beauty contest amongst deities, what it really comes down to is who had the drive and cunning to succeed.

Aphrodite is the original boss babe, and her goddess energy exists within each and every one of us. Aphrodite made a deal (One that ended up launching the Trojan War… whoops!) and was ultimately successful in achieving what she set out to do. Aphrodite didn’t desert the Trojan soldiers in various instances over the course of the war, taking some responsibility for her actions! Aphrodite teaches us to embrace our inner goddess and to be fierce in the pursuit of our dreams – just don’t forget about the people who helped you to reach them!

Invoke Your Aphrodite Energy: Pick your favourite beauty routine and pamper yourself! Then go out and conquer the world.

Aphrodite Self Love Ritual:

To worship Aphrodite is really to worship our own selves and our Divine Feminine energy. It’s easy to invoke our Aphrodite energy, and show her well-deserved appreciation by practicing self-love and self-care. Feel free to change it up and make it your own!

Quartz Crystals with abalone shell and Rose Quartz

Materials Required:

Aphrodite Crystals: Aquamarine, Moonstone, Rose Quartz, Pearl, Rhodonite

Aphrodite effigy (Such as statuary, a shell, or something else to represent the goddess)

Rose petals

Candles (and something to light them with)

Oils that are safe for skin

Coconut oil or your preferred moisturizer

Himalayan Sea Salt Bath Soak

Bath tub (or a wading pool if you have one!)

Ritual:

  • During a full moon, run yourself either a hot bath or fill up a wading pool outside under the moon if you have the ability to do so.

  • Decorate your space with candles, crystals, and whatever else makes you feel most comfortable. Just make sure to do so in a safe way, as nothing ruins the mood faster than an unintentional fire!

  • Add the rose petals, some of the Himalayan salt, and the crystals into your water. If you prefer not to submerge your crystals in water, you can add the scented oil here.

  • Soak your body in the water. Allow yourself to relax. Exfoliate your skin with some of the Himalayan salt. Energize your crystals with power from the moon.

  • Face your effigy (or the moon!) and recite an affirmation such as, “I am a goddess. I am love, I am light, and my body is the temple of my Divine Femininity for which I will take great care.”

  • Take as much time as you need here. Engage any other practices that you feel drawn to, there is no right or wrong.

  • Once you are finished in the water, you can rub yourself down with either a skin-safe essential oil, coconut oil, or whichever moisturizer you prefer.

  • Return your newly energized crystals to their homes and allow the moon energy to continue to wash over you.
  •

Feel recharged and connected to your inner goddess.
